Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. The days leading up to Thursday we spent discussing being thankful with the kids in my PreK class. Kids live in the now. They're not able to think abstractly. So most kids aren't going to say, "i'm thankful for my family or world peace" Most of my four year olds were thankful for their friend (who was sitting right next to them) or the red crayon, or their dogs. Preschool kids live in the NOW. So for the teachers (myself included) who were trying to write an I AM thankful story there was a lesson to be learned. Happiness and good things surround us if we have the mindset to see. We need to stop and look around. The best things in my life are the things closest to me. Felix just made me a cup of coffee, how nice is that? Gianna cooked supper and is always willing to talk and listen. My house is 100+ years old, (ancient but cozy) And did i mention my dogs? No matter what, i can always come home to all of this. So all i need is in my has been here for a while, all i had to do was stop and look.
